Health Hydro

Swindon’s Health Hydro was a pioneering force for good, in a world that was finally taking health seriously.

With your help, it will be once again.

The Restoration

Work to restore the Grade II* listed Health Hydro has begun. This ambitious regeneration project will breathe new life into one of Swindon’s most remarkable historic buildings. Creating a unique health and wellbeing destination to draw people into Swindon’s town centre.

It will spearhead the ongoing revitalisation of the Railway Village, helping to promote Swindon as a place of historic interest worth visiting.

History & Heritage

The Health Hydro, first known as the GWR Medical Fund Baths & Dispensary, stands at the heart of Swindon’s proud railway heritage. Built for and by GWR workers in the 1890s, it reflects the town’s pioneering spirit and commitment to community wellbeing.

As the restoration moves forward, this remarkable building continues to tell the story of innovation, civic pride and the people who shaped Swindon’s past.
